A state agency is considering rubber-stamping the over-priced, unneeded Bay-Delta tunnels project.

The Delta Stewardship Council (DSC) is responsible for updating the Delta Plan, which is the State's long-term plan to restore and protect the San Francisco Bay Delta. The DSC is proposing to update the plan to include the Delta Tunnels as the main way to move water out of the Bay Delta. This would support serious environmental decline in the Bay and the Delta.

Attend the Delta Stewardship Council hearing on Friday, April 28th at 9 AM at 980 9th Street, Second Floor Conference Center, in Sacramento and tell the Council that it needs to do its job and prioritize reducing exports from the Delta.<http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=b84c9c3147eb20cb8ea04bc7fd67c0a2b7a62db12bcb28be917a6d8149e5fc21c7dd786f9a50e8a535e70e52a3b3a94b37bdaeca510c52ae>

The Delta Plan should be a long-term framework for reducing reliance on the Delta and promoting its restoration, not just another quick approval for the Delta Tunnels. The DSC should promote regional self-reliance for those who receive export water, and improve levees and fish protections within the Delta.

Please attend the Delta Stewardship Council hearing next Friday and demand greater protection for the Delta.
