[Occupymendocino] Community voices

The Democratic Club has called a meeting for Tuesday at Harbor Light Lodge. It's what a dozen posters to the listserv begged for, which is why I scheduled a discussion at PAC tomorrow at Noon. It's unlikely anyone will show up tomorrow, which is fine with me, but if anyone does, I'll inform them of the Dem Club meeting. If anyone's left, we can talk about activism.

I’m stumped by your response, John. What is “pro-activism”? I’ve never even heard the term before. More importantly, do you not require all the time we spent thrashing out a “use policy” for the “progressive” center? I believe you were a part of that, no? We queried whether anybody, including Libertarians or KKK members could don the mantle of progressivism and ask not only to use the center but to leave literature there. We tried, as I recalled, to craft a coherent approach and we added even a nominal “meeting fee” of $10-20 so that we can stay afloat financially. So where did all that go? How did it disappear in your unilateral decision to organize this meeting. If you were, as I recall, a part of the prior discussion about policy and use, wouldn’t it have been appropriate to run this proposal (by simple email notice) by Steering Committee? Isn’t that what a consensus-based group is all about?

I'm not pro-Hillary; I'm pro-activism. If I can't host a political discussion on my shift, I'm gone.

I concur. John, I think you need to move your meeting to another venue. susan

I’m not especially pleased by this turn of events. And a word-game solution is not satisfying. We have been impeccably clear that the old Bernie HQ would not be turned into a local Democratic/pro-Hillary HQ – or at least not without a good deal of discussion. This is why we have a Steering Committee in the first place. I believe we also have been quite clear on the ground rules for local groups using the facility. I haven’t put a year’s worth of blood, sweat and tears into building a Bernie campaign and – on my own – spending my energy to find a storefront, only to have it co-opted by the likes of the Hillary squad. Most upsetting. Ready to change the locks.

Too late. The meeting is not to endorse Clinton but to organize locals and forward the revolution.

Wait on this. We decided to limit the Center to Congress level on down and not presidential. A fe people have been suggesting to me that we use the Center for Hillary phoning and I have told them it is not available.

The Steering Committee should weigh in on this, John. susan

A rash of Hillary supporters want to meet at the PAC.

I'm going to invite them to come at Noon on Sat. (my shift).

Hope it's ok.
