Block the TPP: Join the collective National Call-In Day of Action

We must keep up the actions and mobilization. We can win this together if
we stay focused and committed!

Every day the coalition of groups opposing Fast Track and the TPP grows
bigger, representing a vast array of people, groups, and specific issues.

Yesterday, activists held a noontime rally outside the Sheraton New York
Times Square Hotel, braving cold and blizzard warnings. They called the
TPP a "Death Pact," emphasizing its impact on access to affordable
life-saving medicine and healthcare [
http://www.commondreams.org/news/2015/01/26/calling-tpp-death-pact-health-advocates-rally-outside-secretive-trade-talks
].

It was only recently announced that this would be the last round of
secretive talks before trade ministers and heads of state takeover to
finesse the final details. Bravo to the organizers and participants who
rallied so quickly!

And only a few days ago, we learned that Michael Froman, the President's
Trade Representative leading these secretive talks, will testify today
before the Senate Finance Committee [
http://www.finance.senate.gov/about/membership/ ] and the House Committee
on Ways and Means.

So, today, please take these three quick actions:

First, call Sen. Orrin Hatch [ http://www.hatch.senate.gov/public/ ] and
Sen. Ron Wyden [ http://www.wyden.senate.gov ] to say we do not need a new
and better Fast Track-or any Fast Track.

Second, check this list of Senate Finance Committee members [
http://www.finance.senate.gov/about/membership/ ]. If your Senator is on
the committee tell him/her that you don't want Congress to give away their
constitutional duty to oversee trade with foreign nations. Congress should
refuse to grant Fast Track to ensure the TPP represents the view of the
people, not the interests of the president and the corporations who
secretly negotiated it. Remember, under Fast Track there is only 20 hours
of debate, no committee hearings and no amendments.

Finally, call your Congressional Representative with the same message.
Find his/her D.C. office number here [
http://www.house.gov/representatives/ ] and send an email here [
https://act.eff.org/action/don-t-let-congress-fast-track-tpp ].

Thanks so much for taking the time to make calls and send an email.

>From Feb. 13 – 21, there will be days of action as well, when Congress
takes a Presidents' Day recess. Stay tuned for more information on
national and local actions.

Onward toward victory!
