[Occupymendocino] White Debt

I think this essay is exceptional. If you consider the early economic dominance of this country, you will come to realize much of it was built with the unwilling help of millions of slaves. A couple of hundred years of free labor gave us quite a boost. Also worth considering, is how we’ve come to treat slavery’s descendants. Do we assume all Black people are angry? Is that why a Black man is 21 times more likely to be shot if stopped by the police? Is that why we have so many guns?
