Hello Everyone,

I wanted to pass along some info about two events that will be taking place this month,

both addressing Climate Change and Sustainable Living Practices.

But first, if you have not heard about the FREECONOMY movement launched by Mark Boyle

through his book (free to read online) and website, you owe it to yourself, and the world, to

give it honest consideration: *moneylessmanifesto.org*

September 21, 2014: People’s Climate March(peoplesclimate.org)

On September 21, 2014, heads of state
from around the world will gather in New York City for
a
historic summit on climate change - and the attention of the global media will be there too.

Our demand is for Action, Not Words: take the action necessary to create a world with an

economy that works for people and the planet – now. In short, we want a world safe from

the ravages of climate change.

We know that no single meeting or summit will “solve climate change” and in many ways this

moment will not even really be about the summit. We want this moment to be about us – the

people who are standing up in our communities, to organize, to build power, to confront the

power of fossil fuels, and to shift power to a just, safe, peaceful world. To do that, we need to

act – together.

September 12-21, 2014: Sebastopol Village Building Convergence(peoplesclimate.org)

In Sebastopol, CA, organizers of the first ever Sebastopol Village Building Convergence (a

working group of Transition Sebastopol), a 10-day Placemaking (public art, permaculture, and

natural building) festival modeled after the success of City Repair in Portland, OR. Village

Building Convergence organizers have been collaborating with the Sebastopol mayor and City

Council to identify and work toward shared goals, including creating a more cohesive and

walkable downtown; supporting existing City projects and local non-profits, including the

development of a public food forest; and community engagement.

Back in June I was talking to some of you about putting on a community building event, and

this is what I was talking about. I spoke to Marissa Mommaerts of Transition US this morning

about holding a VBC event here in Fort Bragg. I am planning on attending as much of the

Sebastopol event as I can and I will be talking with Marissa again after this event.
