>
> In the wake of the finding from the Grand Jury in Ferguson yesterday not to indict the police officer who killed Michael Brown, there will be a silent vigil this evening at 5:00 PM in front of City Hall in Fort Bragg. It is being organized by Allie Cislo, who is part of our MCJC community.
>
> Here is a statement issued by the father of Michael Brown:
>
> “After the grand jury’s decision, we are asking for 4 1/2 minutes of silence to remember why we lift our voices. We are not here to be violent. We are here in memory of our son.
>
> We are here for protection of all children. We are here to support justice and equality for all people.
>
> We lift our voices to ensure black and brown men, women, and children can live in this country without being devalued because of the color of our skin.
>
> I look at this moment as a shofar call to bring our attention to the many ways that people of color and poor people are treated with suspicion and violence, not only in Ferguson MO but in many places and many situations. I'm grateful to Allie for creating a space in which we can reflect and enter the national conversation. I will be there and hope that you will join us.
