You are in a unique position to help save the internet by preserving Net
neutrality and stopping the Federal Communications Commission from passing
it's proposed new "pay to play" rule.

You have a member/s of Congress who serves on the Congressional Committee
that has oversight of the FCC.

Please, sign and send this petition to your member/s of Congress urging
them to intervene over the FCC's new 'pay-to-play' rule which destroys Net
neutrality. Do your part to save the internet!

As you know, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is considering a
rule which could dramatically change the internet by removing the founding
principle of Net neutrality.

The FCC, as a federal agency, receives its authority from Congress, and as
such, Congress has a degree of oversight on proceedings at the FCC.

Because of the dangers of the FCC's recent proposal to implement
'pay-to-play' policies, we need Congress to step in and apply pressure on
the agency to stop this proposal.

Members of Congress who serve on the Communications and Technology
Subcommittee in the House, or on the Senate Subcommittee on
Communications, Technology, and the Internet, have the most influence over
the FCC. Please sign and send the petition urging your U.S. senator and /
or U.S. Representative who sits on the committee to intervene by asking
the FCC to drop their proposed 'pay-to-play' rule, which would end Net
neutrality.

Here's the deal: Telecom providers want to be able to profit more from the
internet services they already provide -- without upgrading their networks
or speed -- so they have been pushing for a rule that would allow them to
make an internet "fast lane." On the "fast lane," they can charge other
companies a premium to prioritize their content to reach the end-user
faster.

Here are the dangers: This rule does more than promote the corporatization
of internet access--it relegates independent sites to an inferior internet
on the 'slow lane' and creates a HUGE barrier to entry for new start ups
that may compete with--or directly challenge--incumbent technologies and
corporations. This rule will KILL start-up innovation and enshrine the
power of Big Telecom, who will make the internet as awful as cable
television.

Please, for the love of the internet, send this petition to your member/s
of Congress to recommend the FCC abandon the 'pay-to-play' rule and uphold
Net neutrality.
