Occupy Mendocino General Assembly,

June 7, 2014

Present: Agnes, Anne, Bob, Daniel, Karel, Linda, Sheila; $13 collected.

I.           Grand Jury. To date Linda and Agnes have sent in their Grand Jury complaints. Agnes read her email, which highlights certain areas we might want to include in our complaints.

II.         Bank of America farewell party. The party was fun, was well-attended, lots of occu-pies for all, and thank yous to Mendo Litho and others. Richard, via email, requests photos for website. $11.50 was collected in donations. Kate Erickson took photos for her blog and I’ll call and ask her to send me the photos.

III.       Friday Rally. Mark, please contact the Fort Bragg and Mendocino papers and change our blurb so it reads: Wells Fargo rally at Safeway from 3 to 4 p.m. and Chase rally at Main and Alder from 4 to 5 p.m. We’ll be making signs that say “Chase ‘Chase’ Away.” 
Note: If someone sees the parking space in from of Chase empty on Fridays, please park there and save it for the rally signs.

IV.       Community Rights Network. Petitioning is going well. The deadline for petitions is June 24 and the petitions will be turned into the Registrar of Voters in Ukiah on June 25. Everyone is encouraged to attend the “turning in.” 
We have an important anti-fracking CRN event at Town Hall tonight (Saturday, June 7). Video of the event can be seen at www.mendocinotv.com.

V.         4th of July Parade. We want all community activists to come together to march under a Community Rights banner with posters stating “Communication,” “Collaboration,” “Compassion,” and “Connection.” All community groups concerned about the “commons” are invited to join. Other posters will reflect the politics of the different groups: Occupy/OPC/CRN/County Charter/SEIU/Move to Amend, etc. and might say: Get Out the Vote, Vote to Stop Fracking (remember our ordinance will be on the November ballot).
Sheila to write an email requesting groups to join us; we will email it out to the Greens list, Announce list, Occupy list, and any other available list.

VI.       June 3 Election. It was agreed that Robin Sunlight did well in the election for County Recorder (25% of vote). Unfortunately, only a little over 18% of the electorate voted. Bring Sunbeam signs to Agnes for return to Robin.

VII.     County Charter. Now that the election is over, we’ll be working on the county charter and presenting the slide show to various groups to get them on board to push for the Board of Supervisors to put the ordinance on the ballot.

VIII.   Fundraising.

A.     Citizen Koch movie. Richard has reserved the Coast Cinema in Fort Bragg for Monday, July 21 for a screening of Citizen Koch, a film about the Koch brothers Charles and David, and others of their ilk. The trailer can be seen at www.citizenkoch.com/page/content/trailer. We need to find out how much it costs to rent the film and if it makes sense for us to take this on at this time. Please check out the trailer and email us if you can be part of the organizing of this event.

B.     Garage sale. We plan to have a garage sale in the next few months; time is unknown right now. Perhaps a 99-cent sale. We will check with the Chocolate Company (next door to BofA) to find out who the landlord is and if we can get permission to do the garage sale there.
