DFA Member --
TERRIBLE news: The U.S. Supreme Court just made it easier than ever for
super-rich corporate donors to buy elections.
This morning, in a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court eliminated the
aggregate donation limit to political campaigns, allowing each wealthy
individual to dump as much as $3.5 million DIRECTLY into political
campaigns and committees every single election cycle.
Once again, the voices of average working Americans are at risk of being
drowned out of the political discussion by a new flood of special
interest cash. We've seen the damage Citizens United did to our
political process.
We can't sit back passively as the Supreme Court ushers in a new era of
corporate control over our democracy. It's time to take action -- which
is why we're joining with Public Citizen and others to hit the streets
TODAY
in protest of this horrible decision.
[1]Don't wait -- make sure your voice is heard! Find a protest near you
tonight and take a stand against the McCutcheon ruling and corporate money
in politics RIGHT NOW.
Corporate activists like the Koch Brothers have proven they aren't going
to go away quietly. They're hoping to overwhelm the progressive movement
by sheer force of purchasing power. They think that if they buy enough
ads, enough elected officials and enough judicial decisions that we will
eventually get tired, give up and let them cement their control over our
democracy.
That's why it is so incredibly important that we take a HUGE collective
stand today. We need to show the Koch Brothers, the media, and our elected
officials that our votes are NOT for sale. That we will NOT just stand by
while the Supreme Court sells off our democratic institutions to the
highest bidders. That we will continue to demand meaningful election
reform, and we won't take no for an answer.
[2]Join the thousands of activists standing up for our democracy in this
crucial moment -- click here to find a local protest and speak out TODAY.
Thank you for taking immediate action,
- Eden

[3]P.S. Today's Supreme Court decision demonstrates just how crucial it is
for Democrats to hold the Senate come November. Can you chip in to help
DFA elect progressive Senators who will take on Citizens United and
McCutcheon head on?
