Agnes, House Democrats are pushing a procedural move that could cut John
Boehner and Tea Party extremists out of the process and force a vote on a
clean spending bill to end the government shutdown. But they need 18
Republicans for it to work.

*Tell House Republicans: Sign the discharge petition and end this shutdown
now. [ https://www.dailykos.com/campaigns/518 ]*

Tea Party extremists shut down the government to force their right-wing
agenda on the American people. John Boehner is too scared of them to bring
a clean funding bill up for a vote-even though there are enough Democrats
and moderate Republicans to pass one.

A discharge petition could change all that.

House Democrats can force a vote on a clean funding bill and reopen the
government if 218 representatives sign the discharge petition. With 200
Democrats on board, we only need 18 Republicans to sign on and cut John
Boehner's legs out from under him. Already, 21 House Republicans are on
the record saying they'd vote for a clean funding bill.

*Sign the petition: Tell House Republicans to end the government shutdown.

Keep fighting,
