Greetings, all,
Oops, I sent this first to the announce listserv, by mistake.

Just want to say that the Senior Center Board of Directors' meeting,
mentioned in the minutes below, has been changed from Nov. 29 (because
of Thanksgiving weekend) to Friday, December 6 at 1.

Occupy Mendocino General Assembly

November 16, 2013

Present: Agnes, Daniel, Irene, Jessie, Mark, Linda, Sheila

Treasurer?s report: We have $901.52 in bank account.

Senior Center room rental: We currently pay $20 per meeting. (Oops, we
forgot to pass the hat during the meeting.) We are possibly being
treated differently than other groups meeting at the Senior Center. We
were originally told that it was because (1) we were a "political"
group and (2) we didn't do outreach to the seniors who use the Center.
It was noted that the Senior Center exercise class, singing group,
computer room, and cribbage all include folks under 60 years old. We
want to be considered a regular Senior Center group and want
clarification on how we can reach out to the seniors who frequent the
Center. Is there a genuine interest in activism at the Center? If not,
why isn?t a political group acceptable? Linda to contact Bob Bushansky
and ask that OM get on their BoD November agenda to discuss this.

Publicity/County Charter/Public Banking/Ending Foreclosures: Ellen
Brown will be doing a reading, December 15 at 7 pm at Crown Hall, of
her newest book, Public Bank Solution. Agnes contacted Charles Cresson
Wood; he agreed to send an email of the Ellen Brown event to his
Transition Town membership.

Motion passed to fund publicity for this event in the amount of $50.

Ellen Brown will be on Val Muchowsky?s Women?s Voices Dec. 2 to
discuss the event. The first half of the show will be on public
banking with Agnes and Jessie and Sheila; Ellen will be on in the
second half of the show.

We need people to make goodies to sell at Crown Hall; the rent is $75.
Sheila to contact Syd to see if he will organize people to donate the
desserts.

We will also bring Occupy hats and tee shirts to sell at the event.

Mark will contact KZYX re: PSA.

League of Women Voters at their Jan 7th meeting want to see the
current charter county PowerPoint presentation. The presentation needs
to be revised to match the newest charter county version (#12).

We would like to have the county charter be on the June 2014 ballot.
We?ll need to do outreach to community groups like Rotary,
Soroptimists, etc.

Sheila emailed Carmel Angelo re: audit in county assessor?s office.
She also contacted Consumer Financial Protection Bureau regarding the
money from the Homeowner?s Bill of Rights, which should have gone to
state agencies and then to the foreclosed homeowners themselves. She
asked: how do people apply for restitution? 2,500 people lost their
homes thru foreclosure in Mendocino County.

Robin Sunbeam is running for Mendocino County Assessor on the June
2014 ballot against Susan Ranochak. Mendocino Women?s Political
Coalition is endorsing Robin.

Paul Cienfuegos: Charles Cresson Wood asked if Occupy will co-sponsor
a Community Rights workshop led by Paul Cienfuegos on Presidents? Day
weekend, February 16. Motion passed for OM to co-sponsor the workshop.
Linda volunteered to work on it.

OPC group will be meeting at the Fort Bragg Library Nov. 19 at 7 pm
re: fracking. A film on fracking will be shown at the library at 5 pm,
before the meeting.

Film forum: Sheila to stop by KNYO and talk to Sean about setting up a
Friday film. An Occupy film might be best to begin the film series.

Street rally: Attendance has increased since we discussed cutting down
the rallys to one or two a month. It was decided to keep them weekly
at the present time.

Occupy listserv: How should the listserve be used? After a discussion,
it was decided that it?s only for relevant Occupy business, not for
worldwide events. There are enough other venues for worldwide events.
It?s still an effective way of connecting to the public.

OM Facebook: Daniel is now posting on Facebook. Thank you, Daniel.

Tee shirts: Agnes discussed making new tee shirts with ?We Are Working
for You?Occupy? on the front and a list of our accomplishments on the
back. Most of us agreed that since we still haven?t sold the tees and
hats we already have, it doesn?t make sense. Agnes countered that we
could perhaps make up just a dozen for core members.

Important: One thing we forgot to discuss is Martin Luther King Jr.
Day. In 2014 it?s on January 20. Please think about organizing this
wonderful event. We did a great job last year! Let?s put this on our
agenda for the next GA meeting November 30.
