TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN ––

	I'm not sure this is the best way to go about this ( I've mentioned it so some folks), but because of recent bouts of depression and a persistent dropping of energy, I am strongly advised by my physicians (including cardiologists and a psychologist) to cut back on 'activities' –– the doctors remind me that no longer am I in my fifties but am now in my 97th year. 

	The wizards tell me that I must more carefully allocate when and where to apply my efforts. 

	To my surprise, recently I've noticed that even sitting though a mundane meeting results very often in aches and pains and an immediate need for rest and a nap! . . . Nevertheless, it's very hard to resist taking in music and theatrical events; for to me, they list as 'fun'.  Of course, I'm sticking with my senior exercise program and trying hard to eat regularly.

	Over the years, as you know, I have urged all to participate in civic affairs. Personally  I have followed my own advice as to involvement in business, professional, and community relationships.  Now I am forced to recognize that at my age I have to modify my expectations and be far more selective in taking on obligations, even as to family matters.

	Thanks for your understanding of my dilemma.  No doubt each of you will face it one of these days!  I hope you will understand that sometimes I'll have to say "no".
