Good Afternoon,
After the meeting in Pt. Arena last Friday I was
left with the impression that we're not going to
get much, if any, help from the Sec. of Interior
re fracking.
Over the last few months I've worked hard on
Hamburg and Mc Cowen. They express interest
but so far no proposed ordinance.
Having revisited our initiative passed in
1988 there may be some hope. I've asked
for opinions from those who have written
initiatives and read many similar to ours.
Please read: County code section: 19.04
There is already in our code restrictions on
by-products:
"Storage facilities: Facilities for the purpose of storing crude oil and gas,
including tank farms, or storing chemicals, drilling muds, cuttings,
produced waters and other toxic materials used in the production of oil and gas products;"
It is permissive for the Board of Supervisors to amend
the ordinance from time to time to make it more protective.
Let's give it a try.
Norman
