Special fracking meeting in Fort Bragg

The Ocean Protection Coalition (OPC) is holding a special general meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the Fort Bragg Library meeting room, to address how to keep fracking out of Mendocino County. Our federal and state “representatives” have failed to understand the environmental and human costs of this desperate grubbing for the last fossil fuel resources. They have failed to protect citizens from the ra- pacious oil and gas industry.

We will be showing a movie (Gasland Part II) on fracking starting at 5 p.m. for those who would like to learn more about the subject.

Now is the time for human society to concentrate on developing renewable energy and conservation technologies. The continuance of all life on Earth is in the balance.

What can we citizens of Mendocino and California do to stop the suicidal path the oil and gas com- panies are trying to keep us on? We already know that fracking has caused an increase in Earth- quakes in the east and the midwest. We can’t afford that in California where we have two nuclear power plants siting directly over or next to major faults.

Please come and share your expertise and knowledge with us and let’s work to stop fracking. Remember this date: November 19, 7 p.m. at the Fort Bragg Library Meeting Room.
