OM, O.P.C.& Move to Amend,
With OPC & Move to Amend declining to go in with Occupy Mendocino as a cooperative effort, the only way to pull this off in the timely manner required is to have a commitment , either from members or outside sources to put up a portion of the rent & utilities (half?) for a minimum period of six months --out of consideration to the landlady, Patty Breed. I spoke with her last evening. She said she liked the idea of an activist center but would need a commitment as others are interested in the space. I told her I would get back to her in 48 hours.
It is difficult to decide a matter such as this with our twice a month meeting schedule as there is no way to get consensus quickly and opportunities are lost.
For those who are cautious and need more time to ponder other possibilities, there will be other rentals to explore in the future.
I think the group (OM) could benefit by developing a procedure to call special meetings to decide important issues quickly.
To sum up, I think we have a commitment of time for people to manage the space, but the financial commitment is the obstacle preventing us from moving forward.
I can meet at The Company Store at 2 P.M. before our street protest. Anyone else besides Richard and myself?
Rather than send a 2nd Email, here is the info I obtained from Mendo Litho:
If Richard agrees to send an Email to Mendo Litho with the design graphics the cost of a quality 13 x 19 poster would be:
Quantity:
1--$3.85 plus tax
10--$19.90 " "
25--$50. " "
100--$125.50 " "
When the design is sent, one poster will be made and a call will be made to both Richard and I on whether to make additional copies. We can discuss and vote on this at our regular meeting.
Onward & Upward in Peace & Justice,
Sheila Dawn
