Agnes and I went to a workshop in Willits on July 1st that was about exercising our sovereign rights as citizens by way of adopting ordinances. The presenter of the workshop was Paul Cienfuegos who is the west coast representative for the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund, CELDF.org. This organization has helped 4 states (PA, WA, NM and NH) establish statewide community networks that are adopting county/township ordinances drafted by the residents that are effectively banning fracking, banning the growing of GMO food, and other harmful corporate activities where they live. Please check out their website to see the progress from their work.
I firmly believe that the best way to protect ourselves and our environment from the numerous corporate assaults that we are experiencing is to empower ourselves by getting on board with this community ordinance movement. I feel that pleading with any level of government/corporate entity is futile at this point. I have contacted Paul to inquire about his services and he gave me the name of a person who is having him come back to northern California in October/November:
Thanks, Tammy.
Please contact Peter Scott Norris <petersnorris at gmail.com> as he's in the early stages of arranging to bring me back in Oct or Nov for a full-weekend workshop.
best to you,
Paul C
This is as far as I have taken it.

A natural gas platform in the Gulf of Mexico has exploded. Fortunately no one was killed, but firefighters can't even get close enough to put out the blaze. It's too soon to assess the environmental damage to the Gulf, but way past time to ban fracking. Drilling for natural gas isn't safe in the Gulf, and fracking for it on land is even more dangerous. The industry's use of fracking is skyrocketing, and now the feds want to allow them to frack on public lands. Will you join us in telling BLM to ban fracking on public lands—before something else blows up?
