OM Meeting Jan 5, 2013

Introductory remarks:
Sheila talked to newspaper about our relationship with them.

Featured speakers:   Jessie charing  on Foreclosure:
Sheila: SCC requirements for public banks. Doug Hammerstrom has degree in
finance and
banks will come in a month to come and present how a bank works and
getting one started.
Pub bank does require more complex than realize. Rules favor bigger
instituitions
Other places have started them.  20 states in process.

Jessie read foreclosure draft letter to present to supes. Discussion.
They need to follow code and recapture fees that are not being paid. Mark
explained the
affidavit of truthfullness assessor item maybe be excluded now and done as
next stage.
RK comments how it is important to simplify, separate issues on
presentation to Supervisors.
Mark , Jessie and Agnes will meet to  'pound out' addtional things
regarding letter. The letter
to the B.O.S. was co-authored by CJ Holmes and approved by Occupy
Mendocino as signatory
to the letter.

Martin Luther King Event:  Linda

In the last 15 years MLK was put on by Peace and Justice Center This year
late
and needed Occupy M to help
To be at FB  Trinity Lutheran Church. Tentative poster announcement
getting ready.
March, food, music groups,  panel discussion with Jenny Otter as moderator.
Separate list of time events needed. Songsters will do tunes at  MLK event.

Financial report: Peace and Justice has checking account to turn over to $
2000
wanted to give to Occupy. Discussion: we would   have to go to non profit
probably.
Ann and Richard commented onthe compexities of this.Said it was costly for
501 C3.
Incorporation usually isn't what OM wants to do as a leaderless organization.


Tech Report:
 Richard: We seem to be active on both Occupy List serve with
a few people dropping out now an then. Probably around 100 still on list.
Facebook keeps rolling with 1055 people liking the site and commenting.
The current headline
stories are" FBI Should Investigate Bankers Not Protesters"  and  "US
Prepares to Sign Off on
Foreclosure Fraud Settlement". Foreclosure things there too.
Many interesting postings and communication. People not on FB could send
articles to Richard to post.
Mark:  Reported getting a deal of  $35. a year for Occupymendocino.net
website. Will come up again in 9 months.


 Treasure report.
Jessie: $260 + 23 for today. Going to find out about donated rental for
Senior Center to
 Agnes will contact Clytie regarding rent of SC room for mettings ?
 Possible ongoing.
 Does MCTV need to be paid again?
  Wants to know about the payment of MCN for listserve. (Richard will help
look into it)

 Syd payed 2 months on Occupy Listserve and wants reimbursement. (yes)
Jessie will keep the treasurer job.

Pubicity:
 letter sent to Supes was put on AVA website.  Bruce Anderson liked but Agnes
wanted it revised to have Occupy sponsor the letter.It will be sent to him
when finished.
Rk need more publicity needed. Jessie suggested having people collaborate
on writing a forum letter to paper on progress on OM.
Invite people to join. MOre esposure.  Ellie Rouseer should write letter
to FB Advocate. Richard mentioned fundraising letter to go out  as good
publicity.

Dates:
 Feb 3nd get letters ready for fund raising. (No OM mtg on Feb 2nd.)
Feb 9 @ Senior Center  1pm for letter stuffing committee.
Feb. 16th GA mtg @Senior Center , Doug Hammerstrom comes, hopefully. Or 2nd.
 Next GA meeting Jan 26 @ 2 pm Senior Center
Go back to regular 1st and 3rd of the month meetings in March . .

Discussed Transition Town meeting on 2nd.  Would Occupy learn something?
Future of Occupy? Concluded Occupy is alive and doing well.  Recently we
have had a number
of projects, Including foreclosure prevention workshop with CJ Homes and
bank rally direct action.
On Tue, Jan 8, OM people are presenting a paper to the County Supervisors
about the advantages
 in starting a community bank. to help with foreclosure prevention. Bank
Rallies on Street - 9 showed up yesterday.
Richard: should we pursue the B of A commercial with a protest? 
Background of shoot or at the
motel where they are signing up extras?
