Dear OMers,
Please excuse the delay in getting this out . We have all been a bit preoccupied.
Our meeting was brief due to a few of our regular attendees being down with health issues,
Attendance: 5 people-- Russ, Daniel Richard Sheila & Jessie
Facilitator: Jessie
We discussed the upcoming support for Jed Davis of Potter Valley who is going through foreclosure and will be doing a search for the current owner of his mortgage at the County Recorder's Office. The original date has been postponed till Feb. 13th. It is hoped that a mail out to other homeowners in foreclosure will generate additional people putting pressure on the Recorder to validate loss of income for the County due to the nonpayment of transfer of title fees. Over 150 names were on a foreclosure listing.
A request for donations letter will be sent to coincide with Valentine's Day to everyone whosigned their names to our mailing list.
Premiums of an Occupy hat or T- shirt or both will be sent out to those who donate above a minimal level which has not yet been determined. A letter stuffing workshop will occur on Feb. 9th at 1 P.M. --one hour before the regularly scheduled meeting at 2P.M.. at the Senior Center.
Doug Hammerstrom has expressed interest in speaking with the group about banking regulations and the feasibility, from his experience in finance of a public bank. A date has not yet been set.
A discussion of the positives and negatives of trying to get City & County support for Public Banking ensued.
The Martin Luther King event was reviewed with everyone feeling it was a positive outpouring of community support.
Street protests on Fridays are still ongoing with new people occassionally joining us the use of Twitter to get a "Flash Mob" was discussed.
The meeting ended at 3:30 P.M.
Respectively submitted,
Sheila Dawn
