[Occupymendocino] MoveOn Emergency Town Hall Meeting about Air Strikes Against Syria

Dear MoveOn member,

The United States could launch air strikes against Syria as soon as today, responding to the reported use of chemical weapons by President Bashar al-Assad.1

Yesterday, a proposal authorizing the use of force in Syria was dramatically defeated in Parliament in the United Kingdom. The New York Times headline late in the day read: "Obama Willing to Pursue Solo Syria Strikes, Aides Say."2

This is a grim moment. Many of us are just tuning in, and have a ton of questions: What exactly is going on in Syria? What are the likely effects of "surgical strikes" by the US—alone or otherwise? What is the rest of the world thinking right now? What else could we be doing to respond to the terrible unfolding civil war in Syria?

So we've raced to pull together an emergency video "Virtual Town Hall" online today, in just a few hours—at noon Eastern / 9am Pacific Time with several noted progressive foreign policy thought leaders and activists.
