Please email Assembly chair, Mike Gatto and ask him to impose a moratorium
immediately on fracking. The Pavley bill was to weak , would not go into
effect til Jan.2015. email at http://apro.assembly.ca.gov/memberstaff.

Dear Fractivists,

Last week 60 of us delivered almost 19,000 signatures to Fran Pavley's
office asking her to drop her weak fracking regulatory bill and fight for
a ban instead. She refused. In fact, her district deputy could not even
answer yes when we asked her if Senator Pavley would even want a ban on
fracking if the Governor would sign one.

Please feel free to watch the video of the rally and petition delivery
here.

SB 4 is being heard in the Appropriations Committee this Wednesday. We
need to call members of that committee and ask them to insert an IMMEDIATE
moratorium in that bill or vote no on it.

Last week I mentioned another MoveOn petition that I said was OK to sign,
because it asked that the moratorium be put back into Pavley's bill.
Today, the author of that petition has sent letter asking you to call the
chairman of the Appropriations Committee and the Assembly leader to ask
that the moratorium be put back in to SB 4.

Let me be really clear. The moratorium that used to be in SB 4 is NO
GOOD. It was to be imposed on January 1, 2015 ONLY IF the scientific
study was not completed. In the meantime, Big Oil can frack for another
17 months.

When you call, you need to ask that any moratorium be imposed IMMEDIATELY.
If not, they should vote against the bill.

Here is a link to the members of the committee. If you have time and feel
so inspired, call all the members and tell them this. If not, just call
the chairman Mike Gatto.

Lauren Steiner
