Hello Community Friends;

Attached is an informational piece about the Ten Mile Dunes project that really needs looking at and moderate action on the part of our community in general. I would have sent it to several lists, but none of our communication channels will handle anything over 400 KB. I have reviewed this personally and as a member of the Sierra Club Mendocino Group board.

There seems to be a large amount of confusion on this issue. Granted, state parks has done a lousy job at sending this to our community; they have had no public outreach or participation - and their $$$ time situation is dire. They've trapped themselves and US in a cacophony of public communication incompetence,

That said, the plan seems to do a good job of restoring the dunes to their more natural state and retains public access. The missing road, as far as I can see, is a necessity lest it tumble into the ocean as the seas rise, or change the nature of the dunes; The beach grass must be removed someway to prevent it from negatively changing the dune ecology. The thought of a parks boardwalk is frightening to me - I've seen what it did to McKerricher and the Little River Pygmy and am not impressed.

We have a world class resource at Ten Mile - we need to restore it as it was originally as a cultural demonstration of our stewardship.

Hope to see you on the Glass beach - McKerricher walk & bike, Bernie
