Today the issues that we debate during an election cycle are shockingly devoid of real substance.

The cost of putting an initiative on the ballot is currently around $2million dollars. Therefore only special interest groups with significant support from the 1% can afford to put initiatives on the ballot. 
      All of that is about to change!

We the 99% hereby call for an on-line assembly of 50,000 concerned citizens who are committed to collecting 20 signatures each to put specific initiatives on the ballot.               
                    It’s that simple

It is time for elections to become a more fair and open debate.
 
Please choose which initiatives you are willing to collect 20 signatures for once 50,000 other voters also sign up to support the same initiatives. 

A Brief Summary of our current list of proposed Initiatives:

  
Corporate Responsibility Corporations are out of control and are destroying our democracy, the environment and the economy. It is time to stop corporations from acting with criminal impunity.  Buy American. Mandates that state and local governments must purchase supplies that are manufactured in the United States and may not purchase supplies that are manufactured overseas. It is time to stop outsourcing our economy. Invest in Main Street. Mandates that billions of dollars of public pension funds be invested in Main Street instead of Wall Street. This initiative will dramatically increase local opportunities for employment and entrepreneurial innovation. Ban Nuclear Power. Requires proof of a safe way to dispose of radioactive materials before a nuclear power plant can renew an old permit or obtain a new permit for operation. Stop Foreclosures. Allows for the creation of a State land banks with the authority to use eminent domain to seize properties that have no legally recorded deed of trust. Encourages banks to negotiate a lower mortgage that reflects a home’s real value. Windfall Wealth Tax. 10-15% millionaires tax to support the general fund. Label GMOs. Requires that all genetically modified foods be labeled. Police the Police. Allows for citizens groups to police the police. We the People have a right to control policing policies. Voting Reform. Requires instant runoff elections, stops electronic voting fraud, mandates a voting holiday and requires that any citizen who applies for a local ID must also register to vote. Abolish the Death Penalty. Mandates an end to the death penalty. This initiative will save the state money, end death penalty bias towards minorities and stop state sanctioned murder. Neighborhoods Legislature. Tosses out the existing State Legislature and Assembly and replaces it with a larger neighborhoods based legislature and assembly. This would reduce the cost of the legislature, increase local representation and limit the influence of special interest and lobbyists. 911 Truth. An initiative to authorize an independent investigation of the crime of 911. Gives the independent 911 commission the power to subpoena witnesses. Constitutional Convention. Citizens call for a federal constitutional convention. It is time we update the constitution so the 1% can no longer use legal double speak to enslave us all. Tax Hoarding. Substitute income tax and sales tax for a land rental value tax. Discourages land speculation and investment hoarding. Encourages investment in the real economy by eliminating income tax, sales tax and property tax on sweat equity. Will be a boom to small farmers and the real economy. This initiative is based on the real Classical Economics of Adams Smith and not the rip off economics of the 1%. Tax those who hoard wealth and not those who actually work for a living! Revenue neutral. Minimum Wage. Raise the minimum wage to $11.50 per hour. Automatically raise the minimum wage every year by pegging it to a cost of living index. Legalize Hemp. Legalize the recreational use of cannabis along with growing, taxing and selling cannabis and hemp. State Bank. Allows the legislature to create a public state bank that will partner with local banks to make low interest loans to small businesses. Allows the state bank to fund state bonds interest free and borrow from the Federal Reserve at the same low interest rate as Goldman Sacks. Modeled after the highly successful Bank of North Dakota. Energy Independence. Adds a 15% Oil and gas extraction tax to subsidize cheaper, cleaner and sustainable alternatives to gasoline, coal, nuclear energy and natural gas. The only reason we pay a high price for dirty energy is because energy corporations bought a monopoly from our politicians. Educational Reform. Requires our state to opt out of the national testing system called No Child Left Behind. Encourages all school districts to embrace a wide diversity of approaches to education. Holistic Health Care. Mandates that licensed physicians be reimbursed by insurance companies for prescribing noninvasive therapies that are effective in reversing prescription drug dependency. Once 50,000 registered voters in California choose one or more of the same initiatives we will send you notification that the initiative you support is officially in circulation and ready to collect signatures. We will also email you instructions on how to legally collect 20 signatures and where to send completed petitions for your county and state. 

Once we collect thousands of names and emails from citizens interested in supporting similar initiatives in other states besides California we will begin to organize an Occupy the Elections website for each state that currently allows ballot initiatives.
