FORECLOSURE UPDATE (JULY 12, 2012): California Legislature passed the Homeowners Bill of Rights on July 2, 2012 ( http://oag.ca.gov/news/press-releases/california-homeowner-bill-rights-passes-legislature-bringing-mortgage-reforms ) and or Governor Jerry Brown signed it into law on July 12, 2012. The law will go into effect January 1, 2013. 

People concerned with foreclosure should read the HOBR bill and also the federal Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) (http://www.makinghomeaffordable.gov/programs/Pages/default.aspx). Effective June 1, 2012, the Obama Administration expanded the population of homeowners who may be eligible for the HAMP program. For assistance in determining if the HAMP program would help you, contact Congressman Mike Thompson's office (707-962-0933).
Also sign the petition requesting Governor Brown to issue a temporary Foreclosure Moratorium until SB900 (Homeowners Bill of Rights) takes effect on Jan 1, 2013. (http://signon.org/sign/gov-brown-issue-foreclosure?).
