However, the membership renewal form asks people to supply their email address in order to save resources etc. And if anyone renews online, they must supply their email address as a mandatory field. So it is very likely that the information is available for such a list, and may already be entered into the computer. But current management is choosing not to activate the list, perhaps because they do not want to create another vehicle of communication, one that they might be required to share with members who wish to communicate with each other without having to spend $1800 on a mailer.</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1426366791607_8147"><br></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1426366791607_8148">Even if the list is one-way, it can be valuable for essential communication. Quarterly updates from the station, with latest schedule, is an easy call. Use by members is more problematic (don't want to overwhelm recipients), but perhaps including links supplied by members to other sources of information as part of the updates would work. A "Member's Section" for the quarterly update.</div></div><div id="yiv5078565278yui_3_16_0_1_1426366791607_6278"><br clear="none"></div><div dir="ltr" id="yiv5078565278yui_3_16_0_1_1426366791607_6279">Establishing and using such a list is one of the points I made in my "Engaging with the Membership /Public" email I sent out a couple weeks ago. Establishing such a list is so important that I consider it a policy decision for the board, with instructions to the staff to implement. I suspect that the failure to find a volunteer to create a newsletter, which could be sent using the list, is part of the problem. When people choose to help, it is a sign that you are doing something right. But when they don't, the opposite is likely true.<br clear="none"></div><div id="yiv5078565278yui_3_16_0_1_1426366791607_6114"><br clear="none"><span></span></div><div dir="ltr" id="yiv5078565278yui_3_16_0_1_1426366791607_6507"><span id="yui_3_16_0_1_1426366791607_8263">Denny</span></div></div></div></div></div> </div> </div> </div></div>_______________________________________________<br>Kzyxtalk mailing list<br><a href="mailto:Kzyxtalk@lists.mcn.org">Kzyxtalk@lists.mcn.org</a><br>http://lists.mcn.org/mailman/listinfo/kzyxtalk<br></blockquote></div><br></div></body></html>
