Yes. It starts today and you can visit Cowbird to find out the details:<br><http://cowbird.com/seed/sonic><br><br>If you’re unfamiliar with Sonics, they’re brief interstitial vignettes that began appearing on our radio station (WCAI, for Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, & Nantucket) the day we signed on. Since then, we’ve made over a thousand, and they air unexpectedly during every broadcast day. It's a way to have a local signature amid all the national fare. Over at Cowbird, we’re going to use the audio and short time frame as the construct; you simply match sonic vignettes with photos, or vice versa. Easy. On Transom we have tips on making these, "Mine The Gap: A Practical Manual for Sonic IDs and Interstitial Broadcast Time," or maybe you’ve already done some short form audio stuff like this. In any case, join in. It’s fun.<br>http://transom.org/2015/sonic-ids-a-practical-manual-for-using-interstitial-broadcast-time/<br><br>Drop over any time,<br><br>Jay Allison<br>Atlantic Public Media<br>Woods Hole, Massachusetts<br>www.transom.org<br>Twitter: @transom_org<br>FB: www.facebook.com/transom.org<br><br>================================<br><br>"Postcard Reality vs. Real Reality: When you start a project that’s grounded in localness, you may find that you go to the postcard version of your place first. That’s okay. Go to Fenway Park or Niagara Falls or Schwab’s Drugstore first and get it out of your system. Actually, your listeners may find the postcard comforting, but they’ll tire of it quickly. Soon, move your pieces to less conventional subjects, or add some surprise to the conventional images. Go to the crannies, the underbelly, the soul of your place.<br><br>-Jay Allison (continued at Transom.org)<br></div></blockquote><br></div><div>For the Quick Tour of various “Sonics” Jay has produced over the years</div><div>(and why . . .) go to:</div><div><<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://transom.org/2011/jay-allison-invitation-prpd-benediction">http://transom.org/2011/jay-allison-invitation-prpd-benediction</a>></div><div><br></div><div>For anyone interested in radio production,</div><div><a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://transom.org/">Transom.org</a> is (yet another) amazing resource</div><div>~C.</div></div></div><br>_______________________________________________<br>Kzyxtalk mailing list<br><a ymailto="mailto:Kzyxtalk@lists.mcn.org" href="mailto:Kzyxtalk@lists.mcn.org">Kzyxtalk@lists.mcn.org</a><br><a href="http://lists.mcn.org/mailman/listinfo/kzyxtalk" target="_blank">http://lists.mcn.org/mailman/listinfo/kzyxtalk</a><br><br><br></div> </div> </div> </div></body></html>
