Pull-chain physics in space. I can see an application for this in 
launching a compressed wad of sausage-connected inflatable pods and 
spinning it out once in orbit to provide in instant space station, 
complete with gravity, and solve the pesky chaos problem by selectively 
stiffening the joints. Also, it's strange that it doesn't occur to these 
men to spin the chain on a cylinder of something rolled-up, and then 
pull the cylinder out, to get the action started in a good circle.
