Subject: MOTA: Good Night Radio show all night tonight on KNYO!
Soft deadline to email your writing for tonight's (Friday night's) MOTA
show is 6pm or so. If you can't make that, that's okay, send it whenever
it's done and I'll read it on the radio next week.
Memo of the Air: Good Night Radio is every Friday, 9pm to 5am PST on
107.7fm KNYO-LP Fort Bragg and KNYO.org. The first hour of the show is
simulcast on KAKX 89.3fm Mendocino.
You can always go to https://MemoOfTheAir.wordpress.com and hear last
week's MOTA show. By Saturday night I'll put up the recording of
tonight's show. Also there you'll find an assortment of
cultural-educational amusements to occupy you until showtime, or any
time, such as:
The stainless steel Dymo 1570 labelmaker, the Cadillac of the Ford
Model-T of labelmakers. My mother bought a regular plastic Dymo
labelmaker in 1963 or so, around when we got Pepper from the dog pound.
I made labels for all Pepper's things, beginning with the water bowl,
and moved on to label the rest of the world, at least until the package
of rolls of label plastic was used up. A lot of it was wasted when I
made mistakes from being in a hurry, but there was so much out there
crying out for a label. I don't remember what ended up happening to it,
or why she bought it in the first place; something to do with the real
estate office, probably, but I had that covered: DESK, for example. HAND
(for the back of my hand). TOILET. TELEPHONE. TYPEWRITER. And OLDSMOBILE
(right on the window, with the Oldsmobile outside at the curb). That was
a great car, speaking of cars. It just floated down the freeway like a
ocean liner. Everything that opened on it shut with a solid /ponk!/. And
it smelled great, especially when you got in and had forgotten to leave
the windows open a little in the sun, and it was an oven inside. Though
that melted the adhesive on the Dymo labels on the dashboard there. Oh,
wait, I do remember what happened to the Dymo: I wore it out by being
rough and impatient with it till it wouldn't click properly anymore, and
it went to its reward in the spirit world, by way of the wastebasket
under the SINK.

Watch a man persevere through multiple setbacks to make a
Telecaster-style guitar entirely out of cast bronze. Spoiler: it ends up
weighing forty pounds, even after he took seven pounds off by making the
body much smaller and thinner than the plan. With pleasant,
comprehensive narration.

And watch a shy headless person quietly, competently restore a 1930s
gearbox bicycle to new smooth function without stripping any of the
character off of it.
