Chris, you can use your cell phone for a one-button voice recorder, and
post the recording to your friend to work on it. If you have no phone,
maybe someone in your life has an old one to just give you. It doesn't
need paid service to be an audio or video recorder, or music player, or
alarm clock, or wi-fi web camera, or whatever. Leftover phones are
useful even if the screen is cracked or the battery only lasts a couple
of hours without being plugged in.

Also, if MCPB (Mendocino County Public Broadcasting) Corp paid you for
just one year of your valuable radio work, you could have anything you
need in that regard, brand new. A voice recorder and a bag of chips. And
a fresh set of tires for the car. They can pay you. They can pay all the
local airpeople of KZYX. I'm baffled as to why none of you simply
declare to the CEO/manager --who's paying herself $60,000 a year, by the
way-- that you require to be paid too, since you're the ones doing the
work the radio station's there to do in the first place. The so-called
manager has a program director to direct the programs, an operations
manager to manage the operations, a bookkeeper to keep the books (and
pay you), a business underwriting coordinator to coordinate the business
underwriting, and an engineer to fix what breaks and stick if back in
the rack. After all that, what is left for the manager to do for the
radio station that's worth /$60,000 a year more than all eighty of you
doing all your shows all year long all put together/?

The main job of any manager is to pay the workers before she pays
herself. You are the workers. MCPB Corp. is cheating you because they've
always been able to get away with it.
