Memo of the Air: Good Night Radio, 9pm tonight (Friday, Jan. 11) on
KMEC-LP Ukiah and KNYO-LP Fort Bragg, live from 325 N. Franklin, next
door to the Tip Top bar. The heater will be on the whole time in case
you want to come by and show-and-tell in comfort.

Deadline to email your writing to be read on the air tonight is a moist
little hair after 6pm. If you're not done by then, send it whenever it's
ready and I'll read it next week. Or call in and read it on the air
yourself: 962-3022.

And tell your friends about Memo of the Air: Good Night Radio: /Every/
Friday, 9pm to 5am on 107.7fm KNYO-LP Fort Bragg, and 105.1fm KMEC-LP
Ukiah. Also there and anywhere else via http://knyo.org

Oh, and I almost forgot: Sid Cooperrider overhauled KMEC's entire
computer trip and installed new broadcast software, the result of which
pertinent here is that I'll no longer have to fool around with a bunch
of connecting tasks right when I'm just starting my show. It should just
connect automatically. Key word is /should/; this is a maiden voyage of
a new thing and it might not. So, just for this show, a little after
starting I'll be comically panicking about making sure.

Former five-term county supervisor Norman de Vall wrote to the KZYXtalk
listserve regarding $600K-a-year KZYX (that's six million dollars in ten
years to run a system whose guts cost less than a dollar an hour to
pump), "Is this really /community radio/? Just ask: What's in the news?
Last night the new board of the Mendocino Coast District Hospital
considered the dismissal of the Executive Director and today Ted
Williams is in Court opposing Mendocino Redwood Company's law suit
against the Albion-Little River Fire Department. There's new management
at the Kelley House, Art Center and Senior Center - but nothing on KZYX.
Where is the local news?"

I'll be dealing with some of those things tonight on $12K-a-year KNYO
and, God willing and the creek don't rise, $20K-a-year KMEC. So.

Look: Something to occupy your fingers with while you wait for tonight:

This is an article about Minnesota, here, but it sounds and looks a lot
like Albion, regarding phone equipment and connections and service.
Phone service in Albion is, 'ow you say, ze /crapped pyjamas/.

In a nutshell.

The opening sequence of /Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot/.

And lovely aerial shots of forested rock hills near Guilin, China.
