If you're peeved about people being unprofessional you should consider
that a handful of people in the office at KZYX pay themselves
approaching $300,000 a year to do basically nothing; they pay the real
workers, the local airpeople, /nothing/ for doing basically everything,
and no-one in management nor on the board of KZYX has ever so much as
built a transmitter or run a public-access system of any kind, nor done
live radio drama, nor taught radio production, nor done profession
recording or sound work. The so-called manager of KZYX and CEO of MCPB
Corp. knows next to nothing about radio and he knew even less when the
board hired him to run KZYX because they liked the cut of his jib. A
real manager of a real radio station pays the airpeople before he pays
himself, so. Also, lying that there's no money to pay the airpeople when
management is sucking out of the station so much donor money and
subscription money and tax money for themselves is not ...wait a minute,
that /is/ professional, for professional crooks, for Star Trek Ferengis
from Ferenginar. Even /pimps/ give a little of the money back to the
real workers whose work keeps the pimps in their pimply style.
The problem with dismissing Yasmin as being wrong for bringing her
grievance into the pubic sphere is, as long as you deal with the
management and board of KZYX all private-like, they put you off and
treat you like shit and/or ignore you literally forever and just keep
getting away with it. I have personal experience with this; in just a
few months I will have been waiting for /seven years/ to get my
excellent, proven, local, live, truly community radio show scheduled on
KZYX. When you open your mouth in public about how they have treated
you, you're branded a /crank/, and I suppose they keep getting away with
it that way too, hmm. Either way, everyone keeps losing, maybe, but
wouldn't you rather know what's going on? and the people who run KZYX
will never show their cards. They are a closed club and they will not
engage in serious back-and-forth dialog on any level about the secret
inner workings of power there. I don't mind hearing from Yasmin, and if
you do, Kathy, just don't read her, and problem solved for you.
