This very ugly business regarding Tim Gregory raises an interesting question, Scott, and it is this: Does KZYX have any standards for "moral turpitude" that would be required for those who would get before the microphone and have a show on KZYX? 
Crimes of moral turpitude can cause a person to lose immigration status. 
Crimes of moral turpitude can also cause a person to lose a professional license, i.e. doctor, lawyer, teacher, peace officer, pilot, military service, etc. 

Shouldn't crimes of moral turpitude be cause to prevent a person from having a show on public radio? And doesn't the FCC have certain "decency" standards in this area of who is a broadcaster on a public radio station? 
Some crimes of moral turpitude are obvious, like murder, rape, arson, and kidnapping, but they also include lewd acts on a minor, child abuse, domestic violence when committed against your spouse, child endangerment, criminal threats, and perjury. 

If, in fact, Mr. Gregory was convicted off domestic violence, or any other crime of moral turpitude, what should KZYX do?

Dear KZYXtalk readers, 




I spoke with Jenness Hartley yesterday evening on the subject of off-the-air conduct by KZYX programmers. 




As I understand it, Ms. Hartley believes that Mr. Gregory is entitled to do anything he wants in his private life, and that it has no impact on KZYX. Something I strongly disagree with. As MCPB trustee, Ms. Hartley believes she's 'definitely not the employer.' So she directed me to somebody named 'Alice' at pd [at] kzyx.org. I've sent an email inquiry to that email address -- as directed -- but have gotten no response. Ditto for my inquiry to bod [at] kzyx.org. Crickets. 




I tried to put Ms. Hartley in the position of herself as a school teacher. Who's witnessed another school teacher use inappropriate language on a student in a chat room. Her position was that 'We have a constitutional right to be annoying.' So I asked who that applied to -- besides herself and Mr. Gregory. Because it sure in the hell doesn't apply to me. 




Bad language isn't far from hate speech. And hate speech isn't far from getting so pissed off that you smash your car into your girlfriend's car and get arrested for it. That definitely can have an impact on KZYX's underwriting revenues. If this booking photo is the Tim Gregory of 'Cardboard Prison Radio', he should come out and admit it. Then explain to everyone on KZYXtalk how it helps further the mission of KZYX. If not, he should deny it. By providing a photograph of himself in 2014. 




And also consider apologizing to everyone here for his bad language.
