opinions aren't the point here .. the rules are ..

MCPB Bylaws:

					Article IX. MEMBERSHIP

					Section 9.01 Classification:

						1) There shall be one (1) class of Member in MCPB.

what Mr. Bray is proposing is that there are actually two classes of members .. and this has been

the case for thirteen years .. which would be fine and dandy except for the date on each and every

page of the bylaws .. at the lower left-hand corner:

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Adopted 12 July 2010

so now it appears that we have two classes of rules ..

From: Tim Bray <tbray at mcn.org>

The Board does not hire/fire staff positions
like the PD; that is part of the GM responsibility. The Board
does have hiring and firing authority over the GM. So, it is
Lorraine's responsibility to find a new PD, and she can involve
Board members however she sees fit.

It is certainly true, and has been for at
least 13 years (since I first began programming), that only
programmers vote for the programmer-elected Board member. In
this election there were two candidates - Campbell and Robert
Vaughn - both viable, individuals who have a demonstrated
long-term commitment to the station. It was an open and honest
campaign, both candidates had the opportunity to address the
programmers, and Campbell got the most votes. That's how it
        works.

Others have already explained why the
programmer-elected Board member exists, so I won't go back over
that, unless you haven't seen it.

As for this business with Campbell and Sako, my
previous experience corresponding with you leads me to believe
there is no point in discussing it. If I'm wrong, and you are
actually interested in my opinions, then just let me know and I'll
      be happy to share them.

      Tim,

These are facts and actions Mr Campbell involved himself with in a failed attempt to become the GM.

You are focused on Mr Sakowicz, and for some reason, are willing to give Mr Campbell a pass on what he has/is doing. Why is that?

Mr Sakowicz is no longer involved with KZYX. Let's focus on what lies ahead for the station.

Marco is correct in that, we as members were not permitted to vote for a program rep to the Board so Mr Campbell waltzed back onto the Board. This after manipulating his candidacy for GM. The Board didn't select him.

The Board must now work with someone who acted in an unfair, unprofessional and dishonest way.

Given these facts, how should the Board go forward to replace Raoul? Will there be pressure from Stuart Campbell to "make" him the PD?

You mention you know Stuart Campbell. Do you support his manner in achieving his personal goals? I do not.

Anyway, it seems odd that you & Sako imagine Campbell as some local Machiavelli - even though all that supposed machination got him exactly one vote for the GM position.
Either the Board members weren't fooled, or Campbell just isn't any good at power-grabbing.
Right now he is just the Programmer-elected Board member, and if he is bent on gaining power, he will have to convince the other 8 Board members to give it to him. We have already seen that the Board is reluctant to hand power to a megalomaniac, having endured 3 years of narcissistic bullying by Sacowicz. So, maybe, you could lighten up a little and let the Board do its work, maybe even help them in some way, instead of relentlessly attacking people with whom you happen to disagree. Worth a try?
