[Kzyxtalk] Board Meetings, Raoul

The Board now meets on the first Monday of every second month. That would make Monday July 4 the next meeting.  Since that is a holiday, it will likely be rescheduled for July 11.  They were rotating locations, but that was interrupted last meeting, so can't predict July location.
Raoul responded to questions posed on this list and stated his desire to fully implement the Programming Policy, including the Program Advisory Committee, and review the decision to eliminate the Safe Harbor hours.  That is further than anyone else had gone, and gave some of us great hope.  We are now left to wonder if he was pushed out by the "internal politics" and "cronyism" that he cites as his reasons for leaving.  Though not perfect, he was a step in the right direction, which is why many of us are sad to see him go.  Hopefully his swan song will inspire change.

I wish I could say that I was surprised by Raoul's assessment. To bad he has decided to go, I had sincerely hoped his presence would help manifest the changes KZYX so desperately needs. 

When, and how can our community create these changes?  

I hope his observations spark some much needed community discourse on this issue.

    Wonderful Lorraine told me "We have no plans to schedule your show 
at this time," and, "It's not legal for us to run your show (!)" and 
(paraphrasing and shortening here): "You have to work with Raoul-- he's 
the program director, not me. I can't help you."

    I've been writing to Raoul at least once a week for months. He 
never once wrote back, even to say, "Thanks, got your email, digesting it."

    I'm curious. What exactly about his presence seemed hopeful to you, 
Doug? And don't you want to hear the details about his leaving-- beyond, 
as he said, being dismayed by cronyism? I mean, a little more, please, 
Raoul. Who? how? why? where? when? They (we) gave Raoul eight to ten 
thousand dollars. You'd think he could put five minutes into telling the 
story.

    ...Not from the studio at 325 N. Franklin (next to the Tip Top 
bar). If you were planning to come by and play music, or whatever, that 
can be next week. My show always starts at 9pm Friday night and goes 
till 3 or 4am (and sometimes later-- for instance, tonight I'll end the 
show with the Firesign Theater record about Porgie Tirebiter and Morse 
Science High graduation. You know the one.

    If you're in or near Fort Bragg you can listen to KNYO at 107.7fm. 
If you're in Ukiah, KMEC (105.1fm) grabs the stream and joins my show in 
progress at midnight. Listen on the web via http://knyo.org or, if that 
doesn't work for you, try TuneIn.com and search for KNYO-LP. And if you 
miss all or part of the show, wait till tomorrow evening and go to 
http://MemoOfTheair.wordpress.com and you can download the recording. 
That's good because then you have it, and you can skip around in it, and 
skip past something that just bugs you, to something you might like.

    I don't use email while I'm doing the show, but email me if you 
want to comment on something you hear, of if you write something tonight 
or during the coming week that you want me to read on next week's show. 
The deadline is about 5 or 6 Friday night.
