Dear Ms. Courtney,

MCPB isn't the only nonprofit to hide Form 990s in Mendocino County.

The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens did it too. At least for a while.

You can see that in their Form 990s here:

http://nccsweb.urban.org/communityplatform/nccs/organization/profile/id/942800886/popup/1

They had that policy until 2013. Then dropped it like a hot rock. Didn't

anyone tell you about that? I understand that your 'partner' was on the

board there for six years. Three of them as president. Didn't he tell you

about that? That was back when presidents didn't put much time into

the Botanical Gardens. If any. And public support all but vanished. That

all changed when your 'partner' left. Now they're pulling down a hefty

six figures a year. And the president puts in ten hours a week. Didn't he

tell you about that? Huh. How many hours do you put in at KZYX? Oh,

that's right. Zero.

Back to the policy of hiding Form 990s. MCPB did it with the following

language: "No review was or will be conducted." Sound familiar? Yeah.

It's the exact same language that's on MCPB Form 990s. For five years

running. Didn't he tell you about that?

Speaking of Form 990s. MCPB's Form 990 for 2014/15 is a little bit past

due. Normally, nonprofit Form 990s are due four-and-a-half months

from the close of their fiscal year. Which would be October 15. And the

maximum extension is six months. Putting MCPB's drop-dead due date

at April 15. That'll be two months ago tomorrow. Hiding Form 990s from

your organization is one thing. Hiding them from the IRS is something

else entirely.

Your 'partner' made his filing deadline at Fort Bragg Seniors, Inc. Why

can't you?

Sincerely,

Scott M. Peterson

Mendocino
