I got the post below from the archives of February of 2014 .. nicely done, Kelly! ..
there is a formula well known in the fundraising industry .. and as a fundraiser,
Mr. Steffan should know what it's called .. Cost To Raise a Dollar .. or CTRD ..
the local Mendocino Coast Hospital Foundation atrocity is Winesong! .. the
CTRD for that is $4 .. for every four dollars spent, one is raised .. but the industry
average is actually $0.25 .. for every quarter spent, a dollar is raised .. and that's
on the high side ..
so let's look at MCPB's Form 990 for 2014 .. you can find it right here:
http://990s.foundationcenter.org/990_pdf_archive/680/680050440/680050440_201406_990.pdf
the underwriting revenue is on page nine .. it's a whopping $58,100 .. so based
on the industry average, Mr. Steffan was worth $14,525 .. divided by 2,000 hours a
year, that comes out to $7.25 an hour .. minimum wage for that time period was
actually $8 an hour ..

I agree that your income is none of my business but the performance of
MY Community supported radio employees is.
I also appreciate your assessment of your value; however, it would be
nice to have an unbiased opinion of your performance.
Underwriting (or advertising) is one area where performance is easily
quantified.
What is the cost per dollar raised?
Can we see your performance compared to past performers?
If there are other areas where you contribute to the station, then that
would be great to know also, please be specific.
I do not mean to single you out from the other paid staff, I believe
that _all __paid_ staff should be held accountable for their performance.
That is the responsibility of the board and the membership.
With all that I have read on this list alone, telling me that you are
doing a good job at this point is not enough, I want to see some proof.
This is not a privacy issue this is about trust, transparency and
keeping a great station great!
Respectfully,
Kelly Grimes
