Conspiracy theory? What a cop out, unless of course you are trying to hide a conspiracy!

The loss of membership is a fact plain as day to anyone who bothers to look up the information. But wait, I guess you will have to sue the station to get to those numbers. I was told that the station used to have 3100 members by the former Program Director. I have not been able to verify that number despite the "right of inspection" clearly delineated in the bylaws of MCPB which allows any member to find out these facts. Why do you think the Board is afraid to let members have this knowledge? Are they trying to hide something? We won't know unless we sue...

I have spoken to Ellen Saxe many times about the station. I don't think she has read the bylaws or knows anything about the membership meeting option. That is why I have tried to explain it to the board. Problem is, I don't think any of them have read the bylaws either...

The station cannot and will not hand out membership information. I suggest that you get hold of Ellen Saxe who lives in Elk. She is on the CAB and pretty solid. Talk one-on-one about a membership meeting. Try not to talk about your obsession regarding the loss of members because, correct or not, it sounds like a conspiracy theory. SM

Agreement of five percent of the membership are required to hold this meeting, which, when held, would constitute a policy making body.

So I asked for the membership list, or some way to address the question to the membership, per the bylaws. There solution thus far has been prohibitively expensive, and I do not believe represents the intent of the bylaw.

My guess is they don't want the membership to know about the legal and compliance issues, and they dont want to hold a membership meeting because that would become a policy making body that supersedes the control of the board.
