you should not tell me what i am saying, doug, let me do that...
historically the PAC lost any CHANCE of being a real-time community-based input to
programming decisions, when the board decided on the final wording. the PAC was kept
as a sop to community radio-activists like us. it was allowed by staff and those
selected to it to come to nothing. literally.
so listeners continue to get what they deserve handed to them, and members not much
more than that...
an enlightened board [now that sako is well and truly OUT of power] might now find
the way, the right WORDING, to begin to implement what raoul waxed about poetically
when i met him. kzyx as a true conduit of community.
my biggest problem has always been with our 2-ton mission statement--open to wide,
lazy interpretations of what we should be doing/where we should be going...

Tim,
The policy explicitly states that the committee should strive to work by consensus.
While it allows for the PD to make the final call, there is the option to use the
grievance process should any member (including the PD) takes control and refuses to
honor the consensus.
The point is, the PAC policy isn't being followed. What difference does it make?
What your saying is, "the PAC has no power so it doesn't matter that it doesn't
exist."
My point is, if the board agreed with you, they should vote to eliminate ate it.
Why won't they?
If they agree with it, they could also vote to strengthen it. Why don't they do that?
