[Kzyxtalk] Questions for candidates for MCPB (KZYX) board. And for the members of the board.

Marco McClean memo at mcn.org

Marco here.

Candidates and board members:

1. Given that whether I like you or agree with you or not I'm willing to
do everything I can to put you personally on the air at KNYO, on your
own show, on your terms and without managerial interference, will you do
all /you/ can to put my show, Memo of the Air: Good Night Radio, on
KZYX, on similar terms?

2. Given that the managers at KZYX are paid the equivalent of 3,600
yearly $50 memberships, and that KZYX has only about 2,000 members, and
given that without the annual six-figure government bailout MCPB would
have failed utterly and gone into receivership every single year of its
25-plus-year existence, tell me what /you/ think is wrong in the brains
of anyone who declares the managers are doing a heckuva job and don't
need to be replaced entirely or at least have their salaries yanked in
favor of being paid by the hour for hours actually worked, at the same
rate as the local people are paid who are really doing the work of
radio, preparing all week and then doing their shows on KZYX?

3. Offer, just off the top of your head, at least three historical words
for a system where a handful of owners and/or managers are paid to have
a nice life and even save for retirement and everyone actually doing all
the work the system is there to do is "volunteering" and so paid nothing.

And 4. Are you familiar with the machinery and particulars of the
election, and are you entirely confident that the election will be 100
percent fair and will be carried out in an unimpeachable manner.

----------

p.s. I haven't got my ballot yet. Others have told me they have theirs.
I'm out of town every other week; I need a ballot sooner than the last
minute, and I don't know when the last minute is because it doesn't say
anywhere on the KZYX web page when the election will be called. Thank
you. My address: Marco McClean, p.o. box 1497, Mendocino, CA 95460
