At its June 29 meeting, the MCPB/KZYX board of directors reestablished the committee system. In addition to naming a director to chair each committee, the board also distributed handouts that sought membership participation on the committees. This post will describe the committees and how to apply.
The handouts listed 11 committees for which any member can volunteer (listed below with current members):
1) Hiring Committee (sole function is hiring of a general manager); Clay Eubank (chair), Benj Thomas, Dave Hopmann, Angela DeWitt, Valerie Kim, Jeness Hartley, Lorena Calvo-Evans
2) Bylaws and Policies Committee; Stuart Campbell (chair), Mary Aigner, Eliane Herring (note: this committee is newly formed; the others are listed in the Policies and Procedures Manual)
3) FAQ Ad Hoc Committee; Meg Courtney
4) Personnel Committee; Benj Thomas
5) Long Range Planning Committee; Meg Courtney
6) Finance Committee; Clay Eubank (chair), Dan O'Connell
7) Fund Raising and Membership; Stuart Campbell (chair), David Steffen, Diane Hering, Katherine Keegan
8) Programming Committee; Stuart Campbell (chair), Mary Aigner, Tim Bray
9) Equipment and Construction; Ed Keller (chair), Rich Culbertson
10) Nominating and Elections; (chair is vacant), Meg Courtney, Ed Keller
11) Community Advisory Board (CAB); Stuart Campbell is listed as board liaison, members not listed.
Please note that the Programming Committee is not the Program Advisory Committee, which was established by a separate board policy. There is no explanation why the PAC is not listed, even though the other advisory committee, the CAB, is.
The handout solicited volunteers for all 11 committees. Membership in MCPB/KZYX is required. All appointments to all committees are made by the president of the board, currently Stuart Campbell. Request to be on a committee should be directed to him at thales1104 at comcast.net. Anyone who wishes to be on the Program Advisory Committee should also contact Mr. Campbell. He will most likely send you the forms that were handed out at the meeting (description of committees, volunteer signup) which provide greater detail. Although there is no deadline, now may be the best opportunity in years for members to engage with the board in establishing policies and procedures.
