In my view KZYXtalk is fundamental to the future of community radio in Mendocino. There is nothing like it anywhere else in the county. There could be, but there isn't. And so far the board has shown absolutely no interest in creating such a thing.

Liz says, and I agree, that most people don't care about the inner workings of the deaf little nonprofit that runs our "community" radio station. They're just interested in what they hear on the radio: the product. Just like with our food. Who cares where it comes from? But some do.

I for one think that how the board interacts with the members (and public) is the very essence of democracy. I think this little tempest is a fractal, a replication of our mega-world, the Democratic party, the government. And at all those levels, we encounter the same problems. fake dialog, popularity contests, secret discussions by those who really make decisions.

I think it's good to promote this list elsewhere. But as long as there is a core of us who care about this discussion and as long as we have an egalitarian host like Norm, this list will continue to exist, and be useful.

But I very much agree with Norm, that a monthly summary, a review, would be very helpful and give us some perspective on where the discussion is taking us.
