[Kzyxtalk] Job Announcement for Program Director

as i remember the 'spirit' of all that considerable, county-wide effort to get
reliable access resulted in a 4-person group, representing nobody but themselves,
meeting 4 times a year to report their evaluations of current programming. jen
peters was there i think...programmers were 'voluntary staff' and disallowed.

Ideally the PD selectors will ask the candidate how he/she will make programming
decisions. What sources of input would she/he be open to & consider? Will she/he
work with/be influenced by a PAC?

Tim,

The language in the PAC proposal has always been weighted in favor of the PD. It is
an "advisory" committee after all. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.
Personally, I would ask the board to alter the document to make the committee more
powerful.

Having said that, the spirit of the PAC is clear, that the PD should attempt to
follow the "consensus" of the committee to the best of her ability. It also
specifically states the PAC can make use of the grievance process if the PD proves
to be difficult to work with on this level.

Unfortunately, the grievance process has not been functional for some time due to
the lack of a personnel committee.

I hope whoever they choose has respect for the spirit of board policies that are
designed to maximize community input into production and programming choices at
KZYX.
