[Kzyxtalk] Many can't stream KMEC?

I am trying to stream Norman now, 80% buffer with short amounts of speech. The stream is running at 64kb. I am on a rural dial-up that carries 24kb maximum, so it is not working. Most stations used to carry 2 streams, one being low-bandwidth at 16kb or 24kb. Either of these low bandwidth streaming rates are fine for talk shows, marginal but adequate for music. Many of us rural beings do not have satellite.
The bandwidth used to listen to this hour long show would be about 28MB, most satellite users are allotted 10GB/month. If a stream was running at 16KB, the hourly bandwidth used would be about 10MB. If the show is archived I can download it later.

Bandwidth for everyone is a serious issue for the county board, and for whatever citizen groups exist.
But, you say you can't stream kmec. That shouldn't take much bandwidth. I wonder what your satellite is providing, or is it that you would use up too much of your daily allotment of bandwidth.
And I wonder how many people are so affected.
