[Kzyxtalk] Candidate Interviews and Debates

I deeply resented KZYX management's strategy to control/censor/edit/screen questions by having listeners email their questions into the station. What happened to the old format -- having listeners call-in? I guess live call-ins are just too risky, just like "Open Lines" was just too risky.

Heaven help us, if listeners actually get heard.

Also -- Michael Kisslinger? Michael Kisslinger! He's a company man. He has a show, and he does news. And he has regularly interviews candidates for elected office for the last few election cycles. That's three separate gigs he owes to KZYX management. Not fair.

Norman: This is same old, same old, where you do most of the talking.
I think most voters are more interested in how candidates running for the same seat stack up against each other.
Two round tables for the 3rd District seat, for instance, makes more sense. And bring in Eric Sunswheat to co-host. He's the most perceptive Supe Watch in the county.
Then a third and longer round table co-hosted by Patricia Kovner and Jane Futcher (and maybe even sidle in Dan Roberts for a half hour) to get a sense of what 3rd District voters want expressed. --beth bosk

Mary,
I'm sure we're thinking along the same lines
regarding the primary elections.
If KZYX is going to continue with election
programming it would be:

Interviews:
Third District 1 hr. for ea. candidate Total 4 hrs.
Treas./Tax .5 hr " 1
Clerk Recorder/Assessor .5 hr. " 1
Supertindent of Schools .5 " 1.5

Debates:
Third District 1 hr. 1
Treas./Tax - Clerk Recdr. 1 hr. 1
Sup. of Schools 1 hr. 1

Total +/- 10 hrs.

or 1 hr. each week beginning March 27.

If you want me to host these interviews and debates I would like
to know as soon as possible as there is a great deal of study
and fact finding that will go into each broadcast.

Norman
