David, 

Mary Aigner has been with the station since it started 25 years ago -- virtually all of that time as salaried staff. She's always been the #2 (Program Director). Safer that way. More job security. 

Also, a Ukiah studio is as simple as renting studio time from KMEC and sending the signal to Philo via VoIP (Voice over Internet). A $50,000-$100,000 pricetag for a Ukiah studio is insane. No new physical studio is necessary. No new tower is necessary. No satellite uplink is necessary. 

I'll explain why. 

When I first started my show with co-host Jay Johnson six years ago, we broadcast our show from a little studio in Jay' Johnson's office on State Street in Ukiah. It worked fine. And it worked fine for more than a year. Jay Johnson was a software engineer. Brilliant guy. 

But Coate was threatened by our independence, I think. So, Coate found a bogus excuse to suspend Jay Johnson from the air -- something about a stupid contest Jay Johnson ran for about five minutes during a show. Jay Johnson told Coate to fu*k off and quit. My show was moved back to Philo, where it's been ever since.

Well then, may I respectfully ask why the KZYX website does not list the current station manager, program director, or any other official that runs the isolated Philo fiefdom? (including the cryptic title "business development" you have given yourself?

As for moving, many people wish to open a Ukiah studio and office. The issue is location and cost. The former is in progress. The latter will take, at minimum, between $50,000 and $100,000 dollars. That’s being worked on as well.

Why not just get the hook - for the whole current management of KZYX? 

Or term limits, of say, seven years? 

Isn't 20 years long enough for one stattion manager? 

With all due respect to Mary Aigner & friends, can we please move the stattion out of Philo, to Fort Bragg , Ukiah or Mendocino, so that more in the county, including the youth, can take part in our/their station?

Once the delay unit has been activated all concerned will be trained at their request (or management’s insistence) on how to use the 7-second delay to obliterate a one hour public affairs program.
