Good Morning…..
As promised here is my synopsis of what our future
with KZYX might be after having spent some hours
talking with other KZYXtalk supporters:
1. That we are all KZYX supporters needs recognition.
Despite our differences of opinion and often negative
response and reaction from others, from my contacts
I believe we all have one objective:
That KZYX remain on the air and become an
ever stronger public radio station.
2. In summary opinions seem to focus on:
a. Administrative policy
b. Board access and participation
c. Programming and lack of local
emphasis
d. Dormit membership growth
e. Budget and lack/loss of funding
f. Access to Admin and Board members
Suggestions:
1. That the station administration engage in
transparent conversation via radio broadcast
or public e-mail to address listener/membership
concerns.
2. That members of the Board be accessible
and open to receiving membership concerns.
3. That the Program Director have assistance
to perform her many duties and to direct
programmers to emphasize local concerns
and topics over national and international.
4. That we survey those who were listeners,
members, programmers, sponsors and others
of why they left the station. Exit interviews
are encouraged.
5. That the budget and accounts be open to
any member who wishes to review them.
6. That a 5 year budget be developed with
the consideration that the base station
be moved to Ukiah.
7. The access to the administration, board
members and programmers be open to
all who request access.
Norman comment:
KZYXtalk will remain on the list.serv and to
encourage more discussion, for those who
are not on the list.serv, I have launched:
kzyxtalk at mcn.org,
who are out of the area, not on the
list.serv but want to comment.
I'm proposing a survey to reach out to lost
members, sponsors, donors and those
traveling through our listening area by
using survey monkey and craigslist/discussions/travel/mendocino.
We won't move forward unless we recognize and address
why membership is static and why many former listeners have
moved on.
KZYXtalk is making a difference. Some members of the Board
and Admin are reading your posts.
KZYX has a future. Let's make it happen.
Norman
