Jeff Blankfort writes in the AVA's "Mendocino County Today", July 3, 2014, that he can “understand” KZYX Engineer, Rich Culbertson, spitting at a prospective volunteer, Mary Massey, and KZYX Program Director, Mary Aigner, “screaming” at Ms. Massey in the parking lot of the station about a month ago. 




Shame on you, Jeff Blankfort. Shame on you. You sink to a new low as the station’s resident apologist. Ms. Massey, a woman, is spit at by Culbertson, a male employee of KZYX, and you can “understand” it. Blankfort, you may have now assumed the mantle of the station’s resident misogynist. 




One other thing. My informal objections at the FCC to the renewal of Mendocino County Broadcasting’s two licenses, KZYX and KZYZ, were not attempts to shut down the station, as you imply. My objections were filed contingent upon a change in management at the station. Let me repeat: Upon a change in management. In other words, I filed the objections to save the station — to return it to the status of being a truly “public” public radio station, instead of the closed clubhouse it now is. 




Congratulations, my friend. With today’s misogynistic letter you have now earned a lifetime membership in that club.
