[Kzyxtalk] open lines and trading times

Tim,

Please. I suppose I must be a paranoid conspiracy theorist who just made
all this up because I love victimization. As someone who has been to 13 of
the last 14 board meetings and who was the host of Open Lines for eight
years, I may be the most informed individual outside of staff in terms of
understanding the inner workings of KZYX. I have spoken with John and Mary
for countless hours about their perspectives on running the station as well
as speaking with dozens of current and former board members and scores
of current and former volunteers. Most of these people have been unhappy
with the station for some time, and I consider myself to speak for them.

I urge you to acquire a copy of MCPB's corporate documentation as the
bylaws state should be given to any member who asks. I will warn you that
the last member who did that had to wait six months and threaten to sue
before he got an abridged copy (one that did not include the Programming
Policy document). When you acquire and study the entire document, please
compare what it says to the way the station is actually operating. If you
find any similarities, let me know. In the meantime, please refrain from
the implication that I do not know what I am talking about.

As to creating my own reality... It was easy to predict that I would lose
Open Lines as soon as I disagreed with Mary about station policy. The
pattern of ex-programmers includes Ells Cooperider, Annie Esposito, Chris
Skyhawk, Debra Scott, Johanna Schultz, and Jeanine Pfifer (who did win her
grievance and is back on the air) among others makes it pretty clear what
happens to programmers who publicly advocate for more membership control of
programming. It's called passive aggression. I didn't have to create that
reality, it was already there.

All I have ever advocated is for people who disagree with John and Mary to
be allowed to voice their opinion on the air. Should these people band
together and vote for a board of directors that disagree with John and
Mary, it is my belief that John and Mary should feel obligated to take
their direction.

I believe the election process should determine station policy. If you
disagree, please explain.

Doug
