[Kzyxtalk] open lines and trading times

As these messages pile up, perhaps the Bohemian's Gretchen Giles'
editorialized revelation was true. For anyone not in the loop at the time,
some of Mr. Sakowicz's history is worth revisiting.

There is no difference between Aigner and Coate. Think of them as a
two-headed hydra.

I'll go further.

It's my belief that Aigner trained Coate to be the pit bull that he is. She
trained him. Remember, Aigner has been at the station since its inception.
That was 25 years ago. Aigner has seen the station's many and various
general managers come and go. Come and go. Come and go. Aigner is the one,
true survivor.

You have to give Aigner credit: She fought her way to the head of the line
-- a mile-long line of hippies.

You have to give Aigner credit: The only other job she's ever had in the
Anderson Valley was driving a Bruce's Bread Bakery truck. Now -- and for
many years before now -- she has been the real shot caller at KZYX.

Coate may be immaterial.

He is not the only one who believes that he was set up. The trouble is that
no one was around for that conversation with Aigner so her denying the fact
that it ever happened is her only way out.
One thing I am sure of--McKenty is not a liar while I wish I could believe
that Aigner & Coate have the same regard for the truth. I personally have
caught Coate in a lie about his being given the title of Executive Director
and I know how closely the two work together to back each other up.
The coming election might give us a better idea of who the members think is
more believable.

John, as has been explained to all us programmers, it was NOT the profanity
that got Doug suspended - it was his failure to respond by shutting off the
caller, apologizing to the listeners, and reiterating station policy on
profanity. (I didn't hear the show, but it's my understanding from those
who did, that Doug simply let the conversation go on. As management had
previously made clear, they view that as a potentially serious FCC
infraction.) WDan followed the policy and was temporarily suspended (NOT a
"free pass" as you allege). I don't know anything about the Sherry Glaser
incident.

I know Doug believes he was set up. Doug believes a lot of things that
aren't necessarily so. He sees conspiracies everywhere. His belief that he
was being set up for dismissal became a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy.
(When you believe strongly in something, you behave in such a way as to make
it become true.)

Doug McKenty was kicked off the air as a result of Coate's selective
enforcement of the FCC's profanity policy, Tim, and you know it. Recently,
W. Dan got a free pass. He was back on the air after a token suspension.
Someone told me a profanity also aired on Sherry Glaser's show. I don't know
for sure, because I didn't hear it.

In any case, read Doug's recent letter in the Ukiah Daily Journal explaining
how he believes he was set up by station management.
