Subject:[Kzyxtalk] Kzyxtalk Digest, Vol 1, Issue 43

I'm very sorry to to hear we missed Vandana Shiva last week.  We
need to hear as many wise women's (and men's too)  words of wisdom
at this precarious time on planet Earth as we can!   And, we need
as many  deeply commited and wise women as programmers on KZYX  as
well.   We are in for a rough ride, and need all the inspiration
and good guidance we can muster.      I for one,   have lobbied
for the return of WINGS - -Women's International News Gathering
Service.   Another free program with news from women around the
world  and their actions against  imperialism in its many forms,
that slipped away from our airwaves somehow.    I'm also missing
New Dimensions . .a view shared by a number of people who have
approached me recently, wondering what happened to it.  A number of
them had written letters to the station.  I'm not always crazy
about it, but I think it is a good  contrast to other programming,
especially for older people--and our county has a large  number of
"those folks."  It was nice to hear on Sunday nights . . . I hear it
now on Saturday morning on KMUD . . .  . .    And the stuff that
happened to Christina, who is a wonderfully talented young woman
reporter--was awful.  For her and for the rest of us who appreciated
her, who were astounded by her being dismissed, because we liked her
very clear work.  Finally, someone who could almost replace
Annie.   There were many people in the community that were
furious about that happening--and for what reason???  I attended
meetings--maybe you did too  and the people who were upset about
Christina  being dismissed were treated like third class citizens,
rather than the educated, caring people  they were _who might have
a point_.   I was offended by having my thoughtful views so rudely
dismissed.    And, I hear   people in this instant
saying  what they are     unhappy  about-- and they are
simply discounted by the "powers that be."  Instead, everybody is
so damned defensive.  What happened to listening to what folks are
saying  (providing it is reasonable, of course) and being
respectful,  and considering  that they might have a point.  What
if we lived in a world where concensus had to be reached!!  Like
some indian tribes do . . .     I  hope there is someway  we can
all come together, for all of us.     We are all needed to support
our  precious and important gift, KZYX.  It has been at the heart of
important activism through the years, for the country, and it will be
needed in the times ahead.   We are looking at the Navy testing and
conducting war games off our coast,- knowing they will cause great
suffering and death to  our precious whales and dolphins and other
sea creatures.  Then there is Fracking . . . and drilling for oil,
and how many other issues  that haven't even emerged yet, in the
fast moving drama we find ourselves in.      May it be so!

Subject: [Kzyxtalk] Replacing Media Matters

Why did KZYX replace the excellent Fair and Accuracy in Reporting
program with Media Matters pap? Also, why cut David Barsiamians
Alternative Radio? He offers this fine program at no cost to
broadcasting stations. We missed a remarkable interview with Vandana
Shiva last week. Luckily we can still catch his program on KMUD.
