Okay, Paul. I apologize. You're not a company man. I assumed you were a company man, because I have never heard you -- not once -- voice any criticism of the station's current management. That said, I listen to you show, "Mendo Matters", and find that it fills some of the blanks left by not having a full-time news department. Your focus is entirely local, and that is a very good thing. I listened intently to your shows on the Willits Bypass protests. Nothing could be more timely or important.
Again, I'm sorry, Paul.

John:
You are shooting from the hip, and, without asking me my opinions or positions.
I am not a "company man," and I do not owe John Coate anything. He hired me - not when Christina was fired but when Dave Brooksher left. the money I made doing it did not compensate me for the time I spent, so I'm not in anyone's debt.
The greatest impediment to changes at KZYX, many of which I endorse, is not management nor the Board but people whose goal in life is to topple John and Mary who work long hours into the night starting at 10:30 or 11 and whose time is wasted by petty anger over what seem to be old, personal issues.
I believe that many of the atagonists should simply come up with the programs they think we lack and go on the air and do it. It's not something done from management of the Board. If KZYX is to be a community station, the community has to step up.
It's a simple fact that if you keep attacking someone, he or she is not likely to be forthcoming to an antagonist; how bout tuning down the rhetoric and try to settle problems like adults, rather than as them vs us.
I belive that Community is inclusive, with a capital C, not exclusive, as in 'only those who think my way' are my community.
I hope, if I am elected that we can work together towards a common goal - a better, more robust KZYX, with strong finances, a studio in Ukiah, programming that the Community wants and, yes, more community imput but not the same old 'community' that wants to completely change the structure.
You, Michael K, Stuart Campbell, Jeff Blankfort do a great job, we need more people to do a great job. But the politics of confrontation just isn't working ; it creates enemies and schisms, encourages rigidity (which both you and Coate have shown), doesn't solve problems and creates an atmosphere of distrust and tension. It's hard to work under that pressure.

John and all,
Regarding whether I support a particular candidate:
I have my preferences, but my presence on this list and in the election is to insure that the interests of the MEMBERS (and listeners) are represented. I believe the members benefit greatly by this OPEN DIALOG.
And I believe it is important to preserve the HISTORY OF KZYX and let it contribute to the judgement of the candidates and what should be done.
So I remain neutral until positions are clarified. Maybe this year the Candidates Forum will really be a forum.

I kinda sorta regret that Doug and King may split the vote among the station's dissidents/reformers.
That said, King, is there any way you could throw your support behind Doug?
Please be advised that Paul Lambert is a "company man". He is a strong supporter of John Coate. In fact, Paul Lambert owes Coate. Why? Because Coate hired him as the part-time news director after Christine Aanestad left the station.
